In most cases, the differential spectrum of a given function is hard to be computed. Even the problem of computing the differential uniformity can be a difficult task, apart from specific cases. In this talk, we consider the differential uniformity and the differential spectrum of the ternary power function xd, where d takes the exponent appeared in a conjecture in the paper of Dobbertin and al.. Our approach, which uses tools of algebraic geometry, is based on the study of the zeta functions of certain algebraic curves.
